Yatakan is a Rider man from the Black Eel Valley. Like his two younger childhood friends, Ayvtu and Lyafor, he was blessed by Elmal with powers of fire magic from an early age. If allowed to cultivate his abilities, Yatakan will come to struggle with rages associated with his fire magic. Still, he is also a fiercely loyal friend and mentor, and can become a great hero.
In later life, he becomes a mentor to his somewhat younger clansman, Beren the Tall, and potentially also Beren the Swift.
Ride Like the Wind[]
Yatakan is a set character that always appears in a game of Ride Like the Wind. He has an entirely unique portrait set.
Skills & Religion[]
Yatakan appears as a noble and potential Clan Circle member at age 17. His stats will vary depending on playthrough, but he will always be strong in Combat and to a lesser extent Magic. He usually worships Elmal but occasionally worships Elmal's son Zarlen instead. He is often a strong candidate for your warleader or even chief.
As he comes of age, Yatakan may tell you the following:

Lights Going Out[]
It is possible for Yatakan to appear in Lights Going Out, if you imported a save from Ride Like the Wind and made certain decisions in either the Battle on the Hill of Gold or Elmal Visits events. If you do so, he will have some unique advice to share, most notably if he is the one to visit Beren in the Gods War, see Other Side: Beren's Court.
In either case, he is still remembered by your clan as Beren's mentor. If the walls of Berenstead is beset by strange animals, one of your ring members may say the following:
- "Beren and his mentor Yatakan once fought similar creatures, with large flat tails and piercing teeth."
