Dialogue[]

A delegation of Rams requests parley at your border. These are not local Rams, but traders from a kingdom to the south known as Vestantes. Although distinctions between different Orlanth-worshiping peoples mean little to you, you do know their reputation as great warriors and magicians. They have come from their homeland hoping to trade for treasures. Their emissary offers goods worth 60 cows for any treasure you own.
  1. Offer them one of your treasures.
  2. Say that you want more than 60 cows for a treasure.
  3. Decline.
  4. “We have no treasures.”
  5. Attack.

Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind

Consequences[]

If you offer them one of your treasures, you must first choose which one. They will declare themselves satisfied with the exchange: you will be 60 cows worth of goods richer, but one treasure poorer.

If you say that you want more than 60 cows for a treasure, they will reply that their offer is already generous, and they're not here to haggle. You must then choose from the remaining options.

If you attack them, you will find they are strong opponents, but you outnumber them so it is possible. If you beat them, you can steal the goods they took to buy the treasure for (meaning at least 60) and Mood will rise. However, you are likely to incur significant casualties, and you can expect more Vestantes warriors to come by later and take vengeance for their compatriots. If Rams are your ancestral enemies, your ancestors will reward you.

Notes[]

The typical price for a treasure is 50 cows or the equivalent in goods.
