Dialogue[]

While exploring in the southern Ram kingdom called Vestantes, <Explorer>’s path is blocked by a party of its mighty warriors and magicians. They are accompanied by what might be their totem animal, a large bear that eyes the horses curiously. The shield bearer of the Vestantes leader, <Leader>, conveys an offer. “<Leader> sharpens himself to challenge for chieftainship of his clan. He will duel you. If he wins, you die and the rest of your party are taken as slaves, to labor for us unto death. If you win, you gain a fabulous treasure, <Treasure>.” When you ask about the treasure, he says: “<Description>. What say you?”
  1. Accept.
  2. Decline.
  3. Offer to fight the bear instead.
  4. Suggest they travel to your lands to challenge someone else.

Consequences[]

If your explorer accepts but loses the duel they will be killed, and the rest of the party taken as slaves--although the Vestantes are at least courteous enough to send a messenger to inform your clan of their fate.

Notes[]

The explorer refers to the kingdom of the Vestantes by the same name as the tribe here, although on the map it is called Vestanan.
