Urox, or Storm Bull, is a warlike god worshiped by the Rams. His father was Umath and he is a brother of Orlanth, Ragnaglar, and Humakt, until the latter two severed those ties. His wife is Uralda, the cow goddess.

Urox is known as a smiter of Chaos and one of his famed initiates, the Berenethtelli king Ulvargar, was also called the Chaos-Fighting King. His most devoted followers, the Uroxi, are otherwise known as wandering fighters of Chaos.

Ride Like the Wind[]

Urox first appears in Ride Like the Wind.

In the Heroic Combat event involving an opportunity to steal a Ram battle standard, it might be said to be empowered by the Rams' "berserk" god, likely meaning Urox.

Lore[]

The clan circle has little to say of Urox:

  • "I have heard that the Rams worship a god devoted to fighting Chaos."

Myths & Rituals[]

In Ride Like the Wind, he appears in Hippogriff Reborn and the ritual based on it, Gamari Horse Mother, as an enemy.

Lights Going Out[]

Since the first game, your clan has converted to Orlanth-worship, and Urox has joined the roster of gods you can worship in Lights Going Out. He is a particularly useful god in this era, defined by the prevalence of Chaos in the world.

Worship[]

In Lights Going Out, you can build a shrine or a temple to Urox. He has two blessings:

  • Berserker: Increases the chance of victory, with more deaths and wounds on both sides
  • Smite Chaos: Improves our chances of fighting Chaos

The Horn of Urox treasure aids against Chaos and the Wand of Vestenan treasure helps devotees of Urox (as well as those of Orlanth and Humakt) perform magic.

On the Ring[]

Rune Urox

Putting a worshiper of Urox on the ring allows a clan to put more magic into War during Sacred Time.

All members of Urox's cult are men and they are all powerful warriors. In the noble selection screens, Urox's worshipers are marked with his rune.

Lore[]

Your clan ring has the following to say on Urox:

  • "Urox mostly fights Wakboth the Devil, but can also battle Ragnaglar or any other Chaos deity."
  • "Old gods threw Urox into the Animal Corral."
  • "Urox hates all Chaos, including the undead."
  • "Redalda did well to bring Urox to Berenstead."
  • "Urox is the best Chaos fighter because he only fights head on."
  • "Urox's strength lies in his rough masculinity."
  • "Do not go to Urox for mercy."
  • "Urox mourns his dead wife, Uralda Cow Mother."
  • "Urox couples with Minotaur Mother and Winged Bull Mother but always comes home to Uralda."
  • "Urox has killed Eurmal a number of times, but it never takes."
  • "No one knew why Orlanth tolerated his wild brother Urox, until the first broos showed up."

Myths & Rituals[]

In Lights Going Out, he shows up in the myth Humakt Divides Life from Death and makes a visual appearance in the ritual Humakt Draws the Line. His battle against Yamsur and Hippogriff is mentioned in the myth How Horses Came to Orlanthstead.

Urox has no rituals of his own in Lights Going Out, but he is one of the deities who can be contacted by traveling to a Gods War portal on the map. See Other Side: Urox's Smiting for the initial event of his visitation in the Gods War.
