Dialogue[]
“ | A yawning chasm in the earth opens up in your pasture land, swallowing a few goats. You build a wooden fence around it, of course, to prevent further herd losses. Then what?

Consequences[]
Unless you successfully close the hole, it will cause a stress on your pastures. However, you may see future events involving the hole.
Notes[]
It seems that unless you close the hole up in this event, the only way to do so in the future (and remove the pastures stress you'll be dealing with) is to pay visiting dwarves to do so in Dwarves Arrive. If the dwarves are your ancestral foes doing this will annoy your ancestors, so in that case you may want to close the hole immediately if you can.
If the sinkhole stays open, you may see the event Dwarf Foes Seek Passage.
