Dialogue[]

<Carver> has been carving a support pillar for <Noble>’s longhouse, replacing one showing signs of dry rot. <This charismatic carver keeps a circle of young followers rapt with curious discussions of the cosmos and its reality. He always couches these meandering talks as a series of unanswerable questions.> Seized by inspiration, he departed from well-known patterns to carve unusual images of the gods. Certain figures on the column portray gods <Carver> cannot identify. Despite <Carver>’s pride in the work, some people worry, saying that shadows play strangely across its surface. Ring members <who examine the pillar plainly see this effect/do not see this when they examine the pillar>. <Onlookers worry that this weird carving somehow relates to changes in <Carver>'s demeanor after encountering <Rashoran and the Unholy Trio/Pocharngo Gorpgod> in the Gods Realm.>
  1. Allow <Carver> to proceed.
  2. Destroy the pillar.
  3. Seek divine blessing for the pillar.
  4. Trade the pillar to another clan.

Six Ages 2: Lights Going Out

Consequences[]

At the start of the event, Mood goes down.

If you allow the carver to proceed, he will finish the pillar. It may be a treasure, the Strange Pillar—or it may be cursed. If you install the pillar and the god-talkers feel your magic ebb (indicating the pillar is likely cursed) you may be asked if you want the pillar removed and destroyed? If no, it stays. The carver's followers may be glad of the trust put in their leader, possibly causing Mood to rise. However, you may also lose as much as 2 Magic.

If you keep the cursed pillar, you may receive the following notice, as well as another loss of 2 Magic points, some time later:

We lost clan magic again, as we did after <Carver> carved that weird pillar and set it up in <Noble>'s longhouse.

Do you order the pillar removed and destroyed?

Yes
No

If you choose, Yes, you may receive the following:

<Carver>'s followers objected, saying the loss of magic had been caused by vengeful dwarves. <Carver> asked, "Have we not given it more power than it had until now?

Mood also decreases.

Notes[]

OldSeredenPillar

Illustration used if Sereden is old.

The carver of the strange pillar can be either Sereden or his son, Serestev.

If Sereden (or Serestev) is old, the illustration used will reflect that.

This event is slightly different if the carver is also Illuminated.
