Together you and I must fight, not for the victory of Ram over Rider, or Rider over Ram, but to plant a seed of possibility. If we are strong, and smart, and brave, that seed will one day germinate, making unity where today there is hate.

— Redalda

Redalda is a character who plays important roles in both Six Ages games.

Ride Like the Wind[]

Redalda is a character in Six Ages: Ride Like The Wind, born into one of Ram clans neighboring yours. She is the daughter of the youngest of the three priestesses called the Daughters of Vingkot, and is a powerful priestess of Ernalda herself.

In the course of the game, she and your hero Beren the Tall will fall in love, and he and his friend Beren the Swift will compete for her hand. Of course, any such marriage between Ram and Rider is forbidden by both cultures...

Skills & Religion[]

Redalda worships Ernalda, the earth queen and mother goddess of the Vingkotlings. Her skills vary within parameters:

  •  Bargaining: Very Good to Excellent
  •  Combat: Good to Very Good
  •  Diplomacy: Excellent
  •  Food: Good to Very Good
  •  Leadership: Very Good to Renowned
  •  Lore: Renowned
  •  Magic: Renowned to Heroic

She is a required quester for the following rituals:

Her skills are strong enough that she will probably do fine regardless, but many of her options are helped by investing Diplomacy or Ritual magic during Sacred Time, and hindered if you are suffering a penalty in those areas. A smaller number are boosted by Health, Harmony, or War. Many of her actions have better odds of success if your clan's first god was Nyalda.

Events[]

Redalda appears or is mentioned in the following events:

Lights Going Out[]

Between the events of Ride Like the Wind and Lights Going Out, Redalda and Beren, her new husband, merged their clans and united the Rams of the Black Eel Valley to form the Berenethtelli tribe. They prepared as best they could against the oncoming Great Darkness, enlisting captured dwarves to construct the fortress of Berenstead as a safe haven for their people. They fought with the Storm gods and other Orlanthi tribes at the Battle of Stormfall.

As many gods died over the course of the Chaos Age, Redalda took it upon herself to preserve their lore and, eventually, became a god herself. Only after many life-times together did she and Beren let go of their mortal lives and depart to Orlanth's halls, leaving their descendants to rule as the kings of their tribe.

By the start of Lights Going Out, the last remaining member of Beren and Redalda's royal line, Iverlantho, still rule their tribal kingdom, if only nominally. They now worship Redalda as a goddess of horse-riding, conference with outsiders, and exploration. One prominent worshiper of hers is her descendant, Reda.

Worship[]

In Lights Going Out, you can build a shrine or temple to Redalda.

Redalda can provide the following blessings:

  • Colt Blessing: Increases the fertility of our mares
  • Fleethoof: Decreases the travel time of expeditions
  • Understanding: Helps our dealings with foreigners

In Ride Like the Wind, the Colt Blessing and Fleethoof blessings used to belong to Gamari, and Understanding was one of Ekarna's blessings.

Redalda has multiple treasures attributed to her, usually centered on diplomacy, political unity, or exploration. The treasure Redalda's Blanket rouses the people when neighbors come calling, Redalda's Daisy soothes the people amid political contention, Redalda's Map aids explorers, and the Mantle of Redalda, which is a piece of the royal regalia of the Berenethtelli, helps when dealing with horses and people from outside the Berenethtelli tribe. The Golden Mares are also treasures she left behind for her people find and aid them.

On the Ring[]

Rune Horse

Having a worshiper of Redalda on the ring allows you to put more magic into both Diplomacy and Pastures at Sacred Time. She is the only deity who provides more than one magic slot in this era.

All members of Redalda's cult are female. In the noble selection screens and on the clan ring, her worshipers are marked with the Horse rune.

Lore[]

Your clan ring says:

  • "Redalda was born a mortal, becoming a goddess some time after Stormfall."
  • "Redalda preserves the lore of several dead gods."
  • "With Issaries dead, [Redalda] is best suited for bargaining with other clans."
  • "The main god of diplomacy is dead, but Redalda had the gift of negotiation and became our best hope in that realm."
  • "When Redalda founded the tribe she introduced the Rider healing goddess, Erissa, to her mother, Chalana Arrroy."
  • "The appearance of Redalda in an initiation rite is rare, and not to be disregarded."
  • "I most value openness, and so does [Redalda], but I can't say the same for my entire clan." - Reda

Myths and Rituals[]

Though Redalda has no rituals of her own in Lights Going Out, she is one of the deities who can be contacted by traveling to a Gods War portal on the map. See Other Side: Redalda's Address for the event kickstarting her event-chain in the Otherworld.

The myth How Horses Came to Orlanthstead culminates with her and Beren's founding of their tribe.
