Dialogue[]

"<Pure Horse Clan> emissaries arrive on your clan boundary to thank you for a recent victory. You also know them as the Pure Horse Clan, a nickname they earn by domesticating only the horse, refusing to herd cows or goats. The recent defeat you handed to the <Antislavery> clan encourages them greatly, they say. “The <Antislavery> constantly attack us because we keep slaves. We realize that we are the only Riders to do this, but our austere way of life demands it. In gratitude for this blow against <Antislavery> busybodies, we will give you a treasure called a Foaling Blanket, which will grant fertility to your horse herd.”
  1. Ask for horses worth as much as the treasure.
  2. Ask instead for secret rites.
  3. Diplomatically decline the gift.
  4. Disavow slavery.
  5. Take the treasure.

Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind

Consequences[]

A treasure is worth a dozen horses.

Asking for secret rites will allow you to perform a Gamari Horse Mother ritual with the goal of gaining a Flying Horse.

Diplomatically declining means giving up on the possible rewards of the event, but you will have stood by your principles.

Disavowing slavery risks offending the Pure Horse Clan, and of course it means you lose out on the possible rewards of the event. Depending on your people's mood, though, it may please them.

Finally, taking the treasure will give you a nice shiny treasure that will give you a few more horses each year.

Notes[]

This event is one way to gain the knowledge required to get the Flying Horse from the ritual Gamari Horse Mother.

Also, while there is no direct follow-up on this event, becoming too comfortable with slavery and slavers can have... unpleasant consequences, down the road.
