Humakt is the grim death god worshiped by the Vingkotlings. In his youth, he was trained in combat by the primordial war god, Kargan Tor. He is most well-known for having seized the sword that was Death from Eurmal the Trickster, so that someone more trustworthy could wield it.

When Orlanth, Humakt's brother, stole the sword of Death to slay Yelm, this betrayal inspired Humakt to sever any familial ties with him, as well as his other—now former—brothers: Urox, Vadrus, and Ragnaglar. Orlanth's slaying of Yelm had shattered the sword of Death and allowed the undead into the world. Humakt set out to reforge the sword and redraw the line separating the living and the dead. Once Orlanth had redeemed himself and become a king, Humakt joined him again—not as a brother, but as a sworn thane. This way, Humakt is not just the god of death and enemy of the undead, but also of war and of oaths.

While devotees of Humakt's can be found wherever Rams—and Ducks—are, particularly devoted groups of wandering Humakti also roam the Black Eel Valley, hunting undead wherever they can find them.

Ride Like the Wind[]

Humakt is only obliquely referenced in Ride Like the Wind.

When raided by Rams, or otherwise in illustrations of events dealing with them, you may occasionally see his martial followers—Humakti warriors—identifiable by the death rune on their armor pieces.

In the Heroic Combat event involving an opportunity to steal a Ram battle standard, it might be said to be empowered by the Rams' "death-dealing" god, likely meaning Humakt.

Lights Going Out[]

Humakt makes his first proper appearance in Lights Going Out.

Worship[]

In Lights Going Out, you can build a shrine, temple, or great temple to Humakt. His blessings are:

  • Battle Luck: Improves our chances of winning a battle
  • Morale: Improves the confidence of our warriors in battle
  • Truesword: Swords fight with the strength of two
  • Oath: Seals bonds between clans, allowing another ally

These are the same blessings he gave in King of Dragon Pass.

The Wand of Vestenan treasure helps devotees of Humakt, as well as Orlanth and Urox, to perform magic.

Being the god of death, Humakt prefers animal sacrifices and may not react as well to sacrifices of goods.

On the Ring[]

Rune Death

Putting a Humakti on the ring allows you to dedicate more magic to War at Sacred Time.

As Nobles[]

Humakt's worshipers are always dedicated warriors, strong in Combat. Kerenna and her niece, Korestene, are both particularly exceptional examples.

Humakt calls both men and women to join his cult and they are all powerful warriors. In the noble selection screens, his worshipers are marked with the Death rune.
