The Four Southern Ram Kingdoms—variably called the Southern Kingdoms, the Four Kingdoms, or some variation thereof, as well—are the four Vingkotling tribal kingdoms of Penentan, Vestenan, Forosan, and Infithan. They are referred to as such by the people of the Black Eel Valley, which lies north of these four kingdoms. The valley and these kingdoms, save for Infithan, are separated entirely or in part by the Oslira River.

All of these kingdoms trade in slaves, and their markets are some of the most common destinations of enslaved people from the valley.

The Orgovaltes tribe live further south yet, and are not counted as one of the Southern Kingdoms.

Ride Like the Wind[]

The Four Southern Ram Kingdoms first appear in Ride Like the Wind.

These kingdoms are those the Necklace of the Four Kingdoms treasure refers to.

In Ride Like the Wind, you may receive the following bit of text:

The <Ram>s have recruited new warriors from the southern kingdoms. They were already powerful, and now they are mightier still. That is the way of warfare--swords wish to fight on the winning side.

Lore[]

The clan circle can say the following about the four kingdoms:

  • "Penentan is the westernmost of the southern Ram kingdoms. They use the ordeed to pull a coronation chariot, which has great magical powers."

Events[]

Besides the events dedicated to their respective tribes, the kingdoms are mentioned, either collectively or interchangeably, in the following Ride Like the Wind events (typically as a place to sell slaves):

Lights Going Out[]

The Four Southern Ram Kingdoms return in Lights Going Out, and now your relations are more developed, your clan having become Rams themselves since the first game. All four kingdoms are heavily pressed by Chaos around this time, maybe even more than the peoples of the Black Eel Valley are.

The Four Kingdoms treasures refer to these four kingdoms.

Over the course of the game, you may receive the following report:

Snake spirits have entered the valley in larger than usual numbers, fleeing the destruction of the kingdoms to our south. Some are hostile; others, friendly; and still others, indifferent.

Lore[]

Your clan ring has this to say about the four kingdoms:

  • "For historical reasons our sages love to prattle about, we call Penentan one of the southern kingdoms, even though it lies to the west of us."
  • "In the southern kingdoms many former Orlanthi now worship Wakboth."
  • "Southern tribes can choose to raid us, or not, but complex diplomacy does not exist between us."

Events[]

Besides the events dedicated to their respective tribes, the kingdoms are mentioned, either collectively or interchangeably, in the following Lights Going Out events
