Dialogue[]

A small group of people bearing the insignia of the Forosilvuli tribe hail your sentinels, requesting temporary shelter. "We have traveled far, with countless monsters at our heels. We ask that you briefly grant us Orlanth's hospitality, that we may regather strength before continuing our quest." <<Ring Member> says, "Don't trust them. They're ogres--man-eating Chaos creatures who can pass as human.">
  1. Grant hospitality.
  2. Let them in, but keep an eye on them.
(only appears if they are accused of being ogres or turned out to be ogres in previous iteration of this event)
  3. Regretfully decline.
  4. Drive them off.

Six Ages 2: Lights Going Out

Consequences[]

If you grant them hospitality, you also have the possibility to gift them. If they are thankful enough, they will gift you a small amount of clan magic. Mood is likely to improve. Alternatively, they may turn out to be ogres, eating one of your ring members and then fleeing into the night. Naturally, Mood goes down, as does the clan's trust in outsiders.

If you let them in, but keep an eye on them, you must first choose who to lead the guard. If they indeed are ogres, the guard may catch them in the act of trying to slay one of your nobles, and kill them. You may confiscate a notable amount of goods from the loot they stole off of their previous victims. This will also reduce the threat of Chaos in the area. You yourself might suffer only minor injuries. If ogres were the Chaos creature that killed King Vinglanth, then your ancestors will reward you with +2 Magic.

If they have been accused of being ogres and you drive them off, you must first decide on the noble to do so, and the size of their attack party. The travelers may be taken by surprise and slain. It's possible for it to be confirmed that they were indeed ogres. If so, you earn the loot they carried, tens of cows worth of goods, and the hold of Chaos in the region is diminished. If they're not ogres, they'll be easily driven off, fleeing in terror. The people may rebel against this show of cruelty, saying Beren would never have allowed this; Mood drops.

If you have an Urox worshiper on the ring they will be able to sense whether the travelers are ogres or not.
