Dialogue[]

Lyafor, youngest of the children who gained fire magic prematurely, has grown into a quietly confident adolescent. Dreams of fire bid him to journey alone into the wilderness, he says. Lyafor assures you that you need not fear for him, as it is Elmal's call he follows.
  1. Ask him to leave some of his magic behind.
  2. Fete him with a night of singing and fermented mare's milk.
  3. Forbid him to leave.
  4. Perform a taxing ritual to bless him with powerful magic.
  5. Bid him a quiet farewell.

Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind

Consequences[]

If you choose to perform a ritual, you can decide to bless Lyafor with talking, exploration, and war magic. In any case, it will stress your magic in that area for a bit, although when Lyafor reaches Elmal's side he will send you a blessing in thanks. Mood may improve.

A feast may raise or lower the clan mood.

If you ask him to leave some of his magic behind you'll get an immediate War Magic blessing, but your clan Mood has a chance of decreasing for making the request.

If you performed a ritual to aid him, you may later hear the following from one of your nobles:

I had a vision of Lyafor, the fire magic prodigy who left us to persue his strange and lonely destiny. He was with the god Elmal, or perhaps his son Verlaro. At any rate, he saw me and granted us a boon in <war> magic.

Advice[]

  • "Elmal, god of war and fire, asks us for one of our sons. It is not time to cry, bet celebrate!"
  • "When the gods call, we must obey."
  • "If our singers sing well, sadness and trepidation will turn to joy."
  • "Elmal called his son Verlaro to his side. The difficult journey to his father's position is what made him a hero."
