Dialogue[]

A delegation from the <X> arrives to ask for a pledge of betrothal. They want Ayvtu, the young girl of your clan who gained early fire magic, to wed one of their young men, when both are of age. They offer the standard bride price of 10 cows.
  1. Accept.
  2. Accept if they ally with you.
  3. Agree, provided they give you a better bride price.
  4. Tell them to come back when she is of age.
  5. Decline.

Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind

Consequences[]

While acceptance will please the <X>, ten cows is a lowball offer for someone as vital as Ayvtu is likely to be as an adult.

Bargaining isn't unreasonable. And an alliance may be better for your clan.

Telling them to come back when she is of age will please your own clan; after all, this is a bit irregular, since Ayvtu is so young. Mood increases. The <X> may take this in stride or be somewhat offended. If they're offended, your relationship with them will suffer.

Declining will similarly cause our relationship to suffer.

Notes[]

If you succcessfully sent the fire children away to another clan for training, that will be the clan that offers the marriage. In this case, the <X> seem more open to waiting until Ayvtu is of age, since they know her and want her to be happy.

This isn't your only chance to marry Ayvtu off; she will attract suitors as a young woman as well. The suitor in this Marriage Proposal event will offer a significantly fairer bride price.

If Ayvtu marries out of the clan (which is what she desires, at least once she reaches adulthood), you will receive periodic updates on her life. Her new clan's esteem for you will rise as she becomes indispensable to them, and they realize what you gave up by allowing the match.

If Ayvtu remains in your clan, her story may continue along a different path.

Regardless, the fire children's story will continue in Fire Children: Lyafor's Farewell
