Eurmal is the trickster god of the Rams. He is perhaps most well-known for having discovered First Sword, the sword that was Death. Though the precise tellings differ, he is often credited to have used it to slay Grandfather Mortal, inventing the act of murder. Humakt then took custody of the sword instead, so that someone more trustworthy could wield it.
Both Rams and Riders draw a connection between him and the great trickster spirit called Raven that Riders sometimes deal with.
Ride Like the Wind[]
Eurmal is never named in Ride Like the Wind, but he is alluded to, as the trickster deity of the Rams and their equivalent to Raven.
Lore[]
You clan circle may say the following of him:
- "[The Rams] too venerate the Great Trickster, but in a less feathery guise."
Lights Going Out[]
Eurmal makes his first appearance in Lights Going Out.
Worship[]
In Lights Going Out, you cannot build a shrine to Eurmal, but you can sacrifice to him.
- Bless: Blesses our clan
- Curse: Curses another clan
The treasure Eurmal's Turd aids actions undertaken by Tricksters and the treasure Trickster Jar grants magic whenever Eurmal comes out to play.
On the Ring[]
Eurmal's trickster followers can hold a place on the clan ring, but grant no Sacred Time magic slots. However, during Sacred Time, an Eurmal trickster may steal magic from another clan, earning you more magic to distribute that year than you normally would, or lose some instead, giving you less than normal. If you have one of Eurmal's tricksters on the ring, they may conceal potential dealings with Chaos from other clans (though not necessarily the gods). They somehow remain fluent in the event that language dies.
Eurmal calls both men and women to be his tricksters. In the noble selection screens and the clan ring, they are marked with the Illusion rune.
As Nobles[]
Eurmal's tricksters have their own set of portraits—two male and two female—with the tricksters portrayed as looking especially bug-eyed, unhinged, or silly.
There can never be more than one trickster among your nobles at a time.
Lore[]
Your clan ring has the following to say about Eurmal:
- "In the stories, Eurmal transgresses, and Orlanth asserts command."
- "Orlanth could keep Eurmal in check."
- "I never understood why Orlanth would keep a trickster around."
- "Normally it is we who call on the gods and not the other way around. But Eurmal is the sacred rule breaker."

- "With Eurmal there is a trick inside every choice."
- "Eurmal has an odd spot among the gods."
- "On many occasions, First Mare kicked Eurmal, and each time he deserved it."
- "Trickster found what he thought was a stick but was really Death. Humakt took it, so someone trustworthy would have it."
- "Humakt had to take death from [Eurmal], or he would have ended the world long before Wakboth appeared."
- "Had Eurmal kept the First Sword he might have become Wakboth, or something worse."
- "Eurmal was the first to find death. Now death has found him."
- "Humakt picked up the sword to keep it from Eurmal's irresponsible hands."

Myths & Rituals[]
Eurmal has no rituals of his own in Lights Going Out, but he is one of the deities who can be contacted by traveling to a Gods War portal on the map; see Other Side: Eurmal Up a Tree, the event starting his event-chain in the Otherworld.
He and his supposed slaying of Grandfather Mortal also makes an appearance in the myth Humakt Divides Life from Death as well as the corresponding ritual Humakt Draws the Line. The same sequence of events is briefly mentioned in the myth Ages of Glorantha.
