Dialogue[]

Word reaches you of a disturbance in the ruins of Elempur, a former city of the empire destroyed many years ago by the Rams. A sinkhole has opened up, further toppling old structures. Loot or magical treasures that previous explorations could not reach might be found down in the hole. You associate sinkholes with the underground activities of two hostile inhuman peoples, the ever-hungry trolls and the enigmatic dwarves.
  1. Announce plans for an expedition.
  2. Erect magical defenses against dwarves.
  3. Erect magical defenses against trolls.
  4. Inform another clan of the opportunity.
  5. Take no action.

Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind

Consequences[]

An expedition can either please your people if the thought of adventure excites them, or dismay them if they think it is doomed to failure. In any case, they will expect you to keep your promise. Note that Elempur will now be marked on the map; it is fairly close in the valley. If the people are pleased, Mood will rise, otherwise, it will fall.

Notes[]

After this event, explorers you send to Elempur have a chance at finding the Solar Mask of Yelm, an extremely useful treasure that generates magic after a successful ritual. It may take several expeditions to find it, however.

Advice[]

  • "Plans for en expedition will be enthusiastically received."
  • "Let me go to Elempur."
  • "Twenty generation ago <the Rams shattered/our ancestors died trying to stop the Rams from overrunning> Elempur." - the latter half is if Rams are your ancestral enemies
  • "The people are fearful of Elempur's ruins, and what might be lurking in that sinkhole."
  • "That sinkhole will be full of gold and magic."
  • "Others have already picked over the site by now."
  • "Elempur teems with angry ghosts."
  • "Trolls have been known to eat entire herds in a single attack."
  • "The further away a clan is from Elempur, the less likely they have heard about this."
  • "No one ever died from having too much gold."
  • "Sinkholes suggest that dwarves have been tunneling here."
  • "The <Other Clan> excoriate us. Telling them about the sinkhole show them we do not merit their spite."
  • "Charioteers are poor explorers, so don't bother them with this news."
  • "Compared to our home city of Nivorah, Elempur was a late addition to the empire."
  • "I hope no sinkholes open here, where they would endanger goats." - Goat-loving circle member
