Dialogue[]

Three of your clan elders report that they were viciously assaulted by <Name>, one of your Swords. This happened after they ruled against him in a legal dispute involving <damaged pots/a lost honor belt/eggs/the sale of arrows/a missing sword/shrine privileges/allegations of slander>. <Name> has not just attacked particular elders, but the very foundations of your legal system. Complicating matters, <Name>’s fellow warriors hold him in such high regard that they wish to discount the severity of what he has done. They say he has always had a fiery temper but won’t do it again.
  1. Demand a sincere apology.
  2. Exile <Name>.
  3. Order <Name> to pay reparations.
  4. Subject <Name> to an equivalent beating.

Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind

Consequences[]

At the start of the event, Mood falls.

This is a serious offense; your people will want you to treat it as such.

The warrior may refuse to apologize, in which case the matter is still considered open and you must choose another option. If he accepts and offers an apology, then this will placate the warriors, but the other elders may think he got off too easy. If so, Mood goes down further.

If you exile the warrior, his fellows will be distressed, but the rest of the clan will be happy to see justice and tradition upheld. If you do this, you will later hear of his fate. He will probably die, but there is a slight chance that he will instead be adopted by a Rider clan that dislikes you.

If you subject the warrior to an equivalent beating, his fellow Swords will be unhappy but may still administer a beating. If so, the elders may consider this an appropriate punishment. One of your warriors will have become injured.
