Dialogue[]

Sentinels hear noise emanating from the deepest cellar of your citadel. They find a grate made from the magical metal called iron. Dwarves moved aside a rug that has been covering it, perhaps for generations. You come upon them as they assemble a bizarre and sinister device.
  1. Attack.
  2. "Go back where you came from, and take that with you."
  3. Offer them a gift if they relent.
  4. Evacuate the citadel.

Six Ages 2: Lights Going Out

Consequences[]

DwarvenDevice

If you attack, select who leads the attack. The dwarves make a fighting retreat; injuries likely with possible casualties, with possible Mood increase. As a follow-up, decide what do with the device:

  1. Break it apart with hammers and chisels.
  2. Call on squirrel spirits to nest inside of it.
  3. Evacuate the citadel.

It's possible for the squirrel spirits to refuse, dropping mood and forcing you to choose from the other two options. If you evacuate, a crimson mist may eat away at your citadel and fortifications; after it dissipates, the machine is gone and the grate replaced.

This follow-up functions much like the stand-alone Dwarven Device event.

If you offer them a gift if they relent, and give them a treasure, they say this represents a down payment on a debt long overdue. You then lose a treasure (you may choose which one) but they agree to leave, taking their strange device with them. However, they insinuate that they may be back at a later time.

Notes[]

Indeterminate if the mood increase for attacking in the dwarves is dependent on choosing the Ferocity virtue during Clan Creation.
