Ducks are a subspecies of the beast folk race, seldom seen in the Black Eel valley. Those that make the journey are usually traders coming either from the south or the far east. The Ducks, like Rams, are also worshipers of Orlanth. Many also revere the death god Humakt.

Ride Like the Wind[]

Ducks do not play a significant role in Ride Like the Wind, but your clan may hear the following rumor:

The <Ram> clan say that they were visited by a party of child-sized birds, who spoke in the language of the Rams. They <could walk on water/breathed noxious fumes/gave sage advice/were terrified of geese/knew everyone’s lineage without asking>. I have no idea why they thought we would believe this <horse dung/story>.

Lights Going Out[]

A lone Duck trader may occasionally visit you in Berenstead to make an offer of trade. Sometimes, this offer may even be something as valuable as the Horn of Vingkot or Mantle of Redalda.

When exploring the northwest of the map, your expedition may meet bands of Ducks traveling through the valley. With luck, they may gift you a small amount of goods.

You may hear the following rumor, reminiscent to the one from Ride Like the Wind, that is likely about Ducks:

The <Rider> clan say that they were visited by a child-sized bird, who carried an iron knife and could barely be understood. It <defeated their champion in a duel/was terrified of horses/could walk on water>. I have no idea why they thought we would believe this <story/horse dung>.

When exploring, your sojourners may report a variation of the following duck encounter:

On my mission to the <direction> we met ducks. These were not ordinary waterfowl but beastmen, shaped like diminutive humans, carrying arms and armor and exhibiting a surprisingly formidable manner. I perhaps gently alluded to their curious appearance. They nontheless gifted us with armor and weapons they had taken from slain opponents, all the wrong size for their use. I estimate their worth at <number> cows.
