Dialogue[]

<Sole Survivor> can't remember when <he/she> last ate, or saw anything that looked like food. So great is <his/her> hunger that <he/she> can barely <stand/remain upright in the saddle>. When <he/she> is about to pass out, a masked being appears, bearing a bushel overflowing with food. "I am here to deliver you from starvation, <Sole Survivor>," he says. <Sole Survivor> recognizes him as the Chaos deity Teghern, <who came previously to Berenstead to tempt and vex you/one of Elmal's foes known for tempting humankind with devil's bargains>.
  1. Accept the offer, and survive.
  2. Bowl him over and take the food.
  3. Eat your horse.
(only available if you brought the one healthy horse)
  4. "I'll find the food if I just keep going."
  5. "The dead world isn't exactly real, so neither is my hunger."

Six Ages 2: Lights Going Out

The third option is only available if you brought a horse with you into the Dead World.

Consequences[]

If you accept the offer, and survive, Teghern will be happy to see you gorge yourself. The Sole Survivor leaves full, but shamed.

If you say, "The dead world isn't exactly real, so neither is my hunger," the truth of that statement may manifest, causing the Sole Survivor's hunger to disappear. If so, Teghern will elicit some doubt of Chaos' mission of destroying a world that isn't real. The Sole Survivor then departs, having learnt more of the weaknesses of Chaos.

If you say, "I'll find the food if I just keep going," Teghern will laugh at you, pointing out the unlikeliness of this. Nevertheless, the Sole Survivor may find a little bit of food further ahead; enough to keep going, without having caved to Chaos.

If you bowl him over and take the food, the surprise attack may be enough for Teghern to rear back and drop some food, which the Sole Survivor picks up before the monster can stop them. This food will be enough for strength to return to the Sole Survivor, allowing them to continue.

Advice[]

Only your sole survivor will give advice.

  • "I can grabbed that smoked trout and perhaps a vegetable, then flee."- Erenlanth/Warrior
  • "I never wish to eat a horse, but it is better than letting Chaos eat my soul." - Reda/Redalda devotee
  • "Once I would have hesitated to fight a god, but that was before my time in the Gods War." - Yatakan
  • "Elmal will be the last of our gods to die. Will it be Teghern who slays him?"

  • "Weak I may be, but against Chaos I must always fight back."
  • "That mask isn't fooling anyone."
