The Damali is a dwindling and seldom seen people that live outside of the Black Eel valley, but sometimes travel through it. They are shapeshifters that can turn themselves into deer, though transform back to human form if slain. Though both can change their shapes, Damali are not to be confused with the Chaos creatures known as shapestealers. The Damali worship spirits.

Lights Going Out[]

The Damali first appears in Lights Going Out.

Throughout the game, you may hear of the following sighting, possibly referring to the Damali:

One of the foragers said that she saw a wild band of men with elk horns. She didn't think they were broos. Somehow this reminds me of the Antler Society, from the time before the Great Wedding.

Lore[]

About the Damali, your clan ring has the following to say:

  • "<These aren't the shapestealers who killed King Vinglanth. They're shapeshifting folk who/Shapeshifting folk live elsewhere but> occasionally travel through our valley."
  • "They worship spirits and may not lament the death of gods."
  • "They might wield mighty spirit magic."
  • "Shapeshifters have been dwindling in number."
  • "It's likely these learned about wergild when Beren and Redalda built this fortress."

Events[]

Though your people may have sighting of men with antlered heads, the Damali only appear in one event:

Notes[]

Perhaps the Damali are related to the Uncolings of later Glorantha, reindeer shapeshifters who worship a reindeer god. See also the here on the Damali.
