Cenala is said to be the daughter of Hyalor, founder of the Rider culture, and the elf goddess, Aldrya. Cenala is variously described as a fertility priestess, demigoddess, or a goddess. She normally dwells in a place called Last Tablet Plateau, far from the Black Eel Valley. The longer she stays from that place, the more the forces of decay acts upon her, sapping her agelessness. What god or goddess she serves is not made clear, but she is adorned with the plant rune, that of her supposed mother's, Aldrya.

Ride Like the Wind[]

The question of whether Cenala's divine parentage is true will divide the Riders in the valley; your clan can choose either side.

Worship[]

Even if you accept Cenala as the divine daughter of Hyalor and Aldrya, you cannot build a shrine or sacrifice to her. You cannot have one of her worshipper on the circle either.

However, if you accept Cenala and have built a shrine to Hyalor, vines will grow on the shrine and impart a Wilds blessing for as long as it stands.

Lore[]

The clan circle says (if you accept Cenala):

  • "Cenala is our closest connection to a living god."
  • "Either elven blood or divine heritage would explain how Cenala could still be alive so long after Hyalor’s time."
  • "Cenala brings unity to those who share her truth."
  • "Cenala despises slavery."
  • "We must stand up for our goddess Cenala. Or demigoddess, or priestess, or whatever she is."
  • "When Hyalor ascended skywards, he said he had left a final tablet for us. This is her, now."

Lights Going Out[]

CenalaGrove

Cenala, in spirit form, reveals herself to a Ram explorer.

Though many gods and goddesses have died since the time of Ride Like the Wind, Cenala still remains by Lights Going Out, at least in some form. However, even if your clan chose to accept Cenala as a daughter of Hyalor back in Ride Like the Wind, it will since have ceased their veneration of her. This is perhaps a result of their decision to become a Ram clan and end all their worship of Hyalor.

Throughout the game, you may hear the following rumor about Cenala:

Supposedly the <Rider> clan has been visited by Cenala, whose descent from Hyalor and the plant goddess Aldrya once wrecked Rider clans with a schism that was never resolved. Our understanding was that she had died when the elves died. In fact, some say it was her ghost that appeared. I haven't been able to learn why she visited or what happened. They may be keeping things quiet for fear of rekindling the religious war. Our Rider ancestors don't seem interested in the news, which is probably for the best.

Perhaps this newfound awareness of Cenala makes an impression on some of your clan-members, because —if you have rediscovered her—when one of your nobles die, you may be told a variation of the following, depending on your relationship with the half-elf deity:

<Noble> died of old age. <He/She> made sure <his/her> kin would <pass on/remember> the story of <Cenala, child of Hyalor and the elf goddess/how <Player Clan>s had refused to be taken in by the lies regarding our Rider ancestor Hyalor and his so-called daughter Cenala>. The clan will miss <his/her> <defining trait>.

Six Ages 2: Lights Going Out

If you explore the east of the map, your explorers may have a variation of the following encounter, depending on your ancestors' relationship with Cenala:

We have returned from exploring the east. While there we encountered the rustling ghosts of dead elves. They <recognized us as elf-friends, due to our ancient connection to a great spirit called Cenala. They praised us, saying that our explorations would slow the growth of Chaos. They showed us where to find petrified wood and bow resin worth <Number> cows/came at us, shrieking, to drag us to their plant hell. They called us foes of Cenala. This was the name of a false demigoddess our Rider ancestors opposed long ago. We got out of there in a hurry, departing the dead wood unscathed>.
