Dialogue[]

The king and his recent bride <Queen> announce the birth of their son, Venef. The Beren line of kings again has a male heir, which it has lacked since Iverlantho’s sons from his first marriage were killed <in a raid/by Chaos emanations/fighting bandits/battling scorpion people/by a suffocating wind>. “Look at my boy,” Iverlantho declares. “He will grow up strong of mind and sure of thought. When I am gone, he will lead the Berenethtelli to glories untold since Riders and Rams met and became one.” <God-talkers say that this auspicious event has increased our clan magic./Lore keepers say that this would have earned us an increase in clan magic, had we recognized the crown by selecting Iverlantho as chieftain.>

(Only appears if realist faction is dominant)

Six Ages 2: Lights Going Out

Not all options are necessarily available, depending on your clan's feelings towards the monarchy.

Consequences[]

At start of event, Population +1. Possible increase to clan magic, if stated.

Encouraging harmony between royalists and their critics risks lowering Mood if the two sides are too entrenched and feel that the ring is trying to tape over real differences of opinion.

Celebrating the renewal of the royal line will, assuming the royalist faction is dominant, increase the popularity of Iverlantho and the royalist faction in general as well as improving Mood.

If you remind people that Venef's role will be largely ceremonial, they will agree, remarking they are celebrating the birth, not the throne. Mood increases.

If you successfully seek a blessing from Elmal then he will send you a herd of 30 yellow-haired cows as a gift and the clan's mood will improve. It may be noted that said yellow cattle, as a unique gift, do not breed true.

If you throw a feast, you will have to decide the amount of food to spend: a cautious amount; neither too much, nor too little; or a generous amount. Success will see Iverlantho's joy spread to all; Mood improves and Food drops.
