Basikan Southclan is a figure from Rider history: Hyalor's grandson, of the Vashyasa line—descended from Hyalor's last wife, Vashya. When the First Clan divided, Basikan took his people and went south. He is known for his curiosity and willingness to wander.
Although Yenfar the Capturer was a foe to all Riders, Basikan hated him especially, because Yenfar stole him as a child and killed his mother. Yenfar also killed Vashya, Basikan's grandmother.
Ride Like the Wind[]
Basikan is an ancestor of your clan.
The treasure Basikan's Battle Standard aids war leaders when enemies bring monsters to the battlefield.
Lore[]
Your clan circle can say the following of their distant ancestor in Ride Like the Wind:
- "At the South Clan, he told Basikan that curiosity meant nothing if it did not extend to the ways of other peoples—even enemies, even the <Ancestral Enemy>, who had killed him."
- "This [racing on skis pulled by horses] is not a new invention. Our ancestor Basikan did this, when he, Stelfor, Zenangar and Nameforgot were children together."
- "Basikan befriended a wolf. But his descendants scorned it, so it departed into the woods once more."
- "When Zenangar and Basikan allied, even cruel Stelfor took note."
- "Dostal nodded, and they understood the Third Lesson: to catch your prize, be willing to wander. Basikan learned this more deeply than the rest."
- "This is the part of the tent that shows us going to war against each other for the first time. You see Basikan finding many treasures and launching frequent sallies into the Gods War, gaining power there to fend off Stelfor's violence and Zenangar's tricks."
Myths & Rituals[]
Basikan appears as a boy in the Dostal and the Snow Elk myth and the corresponding Dostal Elk Hunter ritual. However, he appears as a chieftain in the Hyalor's Long Ride myth, wherein Basikan and Zenangar rode to the Gods War together to try to heal Hyalor's wounds, but failed because Stelfor and Nameforgot would not help them.
