Autronos is a young Wheel nobleman, son to the chieftain of a Black Eel Valley clan known for their descent from Elmal.

Ride Like the Wind[]

Like your own Beren the Tall, he is a potential hero, although you learn little of his story.

At the year of his birth, you may receive the following report:

"<Wheel Clan> nobles have been riding around in their chariots informing their neighbors of the birth of Autronos, son of their chieftain <Name>. The sunpath glowed when he dawned from his mother's womb. Or so say the <Wheel Clan>s, always quick to remind us of their unbroken lineage from Elmal.

Does the clan send them a celebratory gift of five cows?

Should you indeed choose to gift them, they respond graciously, despite the arrogance for which the Wheel People are known.

When he comes of age, you may hear the following:

Autronos, the young Wheel born under a glowing sunpath, has reached the age of 15, and already fights like a seasoned warrior. His clan, the <Wheel Clan>s, expect great deeds from him.

Autronos grows up to be a mighty warrior, like your own heroes Beren the Tall, Yatakan, and Ayvtu. As such, other Wheel clans seek to marry their daughters to him.

You can send Beren the Tall to duel Autronos when both are of age, and can choose to make it a duel to the death. Be warned that either can slay the other. If both live, Beren will strike up a mentorly friendship with Autronos, and mention him fondly later on.

Autronos' duel with Beren has a few variations:

I am back from my duel against Autronos. The pup wasn't so tough as they said. I banged him up good. Despite his lordly bloodline, he took his defeat with good grace. We drank kumis together, and I showed him a few tricks. The next time someone comes at him like I did, they'll regret it.

— Beren the Tall

Or,

"I'm back from my duel against Autronos, with some bruises and scrapes to teach me humility. That boy sure can fight! You should have seen the older nobles' stuffy faces when, in his victory, he said he wanted to drink kumis with me! He'll go far in the valley, you can bet on that."

— Beren the Tall

Throughout Ride Like the Wind, you may hear tales of his exploits, from fighting the Alkothi, finding his way back from the Gods War after getting lost from a ritual, killing a dwarf made of iron, meeting Elmal, or making a perfect chariot. You may also hear of his demise doing anything from fighting Rams while exploring to the south or to rescuing a kidnapped priestess.

Should he live long enough, however, you will hear of his bitter rivalry with another Wheel hero named Usumatus.

Their story may go a little something like the following:

"Autronos of the <otherClan> clan slew his rival, the Wheel hero, Usumatus, in a duel. It is said they fought over the love of a woman."

Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind

"Autronos of the <otherClan> clan married the daughter of the <foilClan.plural>, as part of a peace arrangement between the two clans. You may recall that he slew their champion, Usumatus. The way I hear it, Autronos' bride is not the woman the two heroes fought over. So this story ends in woe for all."
