Six Ages Wiki

The Alkothi are the terrifying worshipers of Shargash, who dwell in the green-walled city of Alkoth, now part of the domed empire beneath the glacier. Although obedient to the Dara Happan emperor (as Shargash once was to his father Yelm), they run amuck when the emperor is weak. The Alkothi fought the people of Nivorah during the War of Many Suns and both Riders and Wheels has feared them ever since. They appear to practice head-binding.

One famous Alkothi was the many-headed General Yaralka.

Ride Like the Wind[]

The Alkothi first appears in Ride Like the Wind, though they only rarely visit the valley wherein your clan lives.

If you request a Wheel or Rider clan for informationon in exchange for a favor owed, and ask: "Aside from other clans, who should we fear most?" they may tell you the following:

"We have heard believable stories that the hell men of Alkoth are on the prowl, even though they should be under the Dome," said <Wheel or Rider chieftain>, their chief.

If you ask the same of a Ram clan, they'll instead say this:

"We have heard rumors that the hell men of Alkoth sometimes raid, although they are not foolish enough to attack Vingkotlings," said <Ram chieftain>, their chief.

Similarly, if you sacrifice to Buseryan for one of his Divination blessings asking for "Threats to the clan," you may be told:

"It is hard to believe, but the star signs cannot lie. Hell has opened up, and the demon-men of Alkoth are loosed on the world."

The Mammoth spirit will help you deal with Alkothi encounters.

Rumors[]

After the Skyquake event happens, you may hear the following rumor:

A <Other> patrol felt great terror when they found Alkothi demon men prowling their border. They feared an incursion by these terrible foes. But the monstrous sons of Shargash sought only to see the skyquake damage for themselves. The <Other>s beheld something unimaginable on those Alkothi faces--fear!

Lore[]

The clan circle says:

  • "Even before the dome, the Emperor sometimes had trouble keeping the Alkothi in line."
  • "No one can stand against the demons and warriors of Alkoth."
  • "They only win because people believe the horrible stories about them."
  • "Tunnels below Alkoth allow its residents to travel to hell. They must be using them to get in and out of the dome."
  • "We fought them during the False Suns war."
  • "When the emperor is weak, as he now is beneath his great dome, his Alkothi subjects run amok."

Events[]

The Alkothi figure in the following events:

In Battle[]

The Alkothi are fearsome opponents. Fortunately, they rarely attack you—though they will do so somewhat more often if they are your ancestral foes.

Their description on the War Screen menu goes: "Hell men from the empire's most warlike city. They mock you."

They fight on foot wielding arrow, spear, and mace. They prefer to charge, berserk attack, and terrify the foe using their death whistles. They will never set aside a reserve force, and do not accept parley offers.

Their unique ritual, Frenzy, allows Shargash to possess all present Alkothi warriors.

The Shargash Slasher treasure is a sword that once slew an Alkothi hero and increases your chances of victory when raided by Alkothi. Also, the Demon Barrier Banner Banner decreases the magnitude of any potential defeats when defending against them.

The Alkothi have several Heroic Combat events: Heroic Combat: Alkothi.

Myths & Rituals[]

The Alkothi appear in the myth Tablets of Hyalor and its ritual, Hyalor Tablet Maker

Lights Going Out[]

By the time of the Chaos Age, when Lights Going Out takes place, the Alkothi have not been seen in the Black Eel valley for generations. However, it is possible that a host of them appear at the edges of your clan lands from out of a hole into the Gods War, where time functions differently.

Rumors[]

Over the course of the game, you may also hear the following rumor:

The <Other> clan was raided by what sounds to me like demons from the old imperial city of Alkoth. For generations the Alkothi were lurking under the dome covering the empire. If they are really foraying this far, we have one more enemy to concern us.

Six Ages 2: Lights Going Out

Lore[]

Your clan ring has the following to say about them:

  • "Alkothi killed more than one of our ancestors."
  • "Alkothi worship Shargash the Destroyer, also called the Lethal Sun."
  • "Demon-men appear on the panels of our story tapestry."
  • "Our Rider ancestors battled Alkothi in the War of Many Suns. We survived, but they were fearsome foes."
  • "They are demons, but not Chaos. You would think they'd be one and the same, but not so."
  • "They got here by conducting an Otherworld ritual—a practice we gave up when entering the Gods War grew too hazardous."
  • "They hail from the far distant land of Alkoth, and not from this present day."

Events[]

The Alkothi appear in the following events in Lights Going Out:
