Aldrya, goddess of the wildlands, is the primary goddess worshipped by the elves. Her mother is the Ram earth goddess Ernalda and she is, or was, a friend to the Rider earth goddess Nyalda.

According to the myth Hyalor's Long Ride, she was also the ninth and final wife of Hyalor, and mother to his daughter, Cenala.

Ride Like the Wind[]

In Ride Like the Wind, once the existence of Cenala comes to light, you and the other Rider clans in the valley become divided as to the veracity of her parentage; your clan can take either side in the matter.

Worship[]

Aldrya is not a goddess you can worship with shrines or temples, although you can sacrifice to her in at least one event.

Lore[]

The clan circle says of her:

  • "Hyalor found Aldrya laying on a bed of pine needles. She beckoned him and said, 'I need you like plants need the sun.'"
  • "As they lay together in their bed of pine needles, Aldrya said to Hyalor, 'Some seeds take a long time to sprout.'"
  • "Nyalda Earth Mother was once friends with Aldrya. Perhaps Hyalor tried to heal that rift."
  • "When the first seed opened, it contained Aldrya, ancestress of all elves."
  • "The Elf Queen and Earth Queen were once friends, until the Elf Queen said, 'I don't care if your people eat.'"

Lights Going Out[]

Aldrya is seldom mentioned in Lights Going Out, even more so than in the previous game. This is likely because her children, the elves, are near extinct by this time in the Chaos Age.

Lore[]

The clan ring may say the following about her:

  • "Respect the offspring of Aldrya the Green."

Other Stories[]

Aldrya also appears in other tales of Glorantha. For more information, see:
